General Manager | SCWI
Jason Schmidt has been with Test Metals since 2002. He has extensive experience in the fields of chemical composition analysis, mechanical performance testing, welding certification, metallography, and failure analysis. He is certified as a senior welding inspector by the American Welding Society (AWS). He also serves as a guest welding certifier for 27J School District. Jason holds Level II endorsements in PT, MT, and UT shear wave testing.
Failure Analyst | Materials Engineer
Ashlyn Orr holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Science in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines. Her dissertation focused on the effect of nickel and retained austenite on rolling-sliding contact fatigue through the Advanced Steel Processing and Products Research Center. She is well versed in metallographic analyses. She acts as the failure analyst for Test Metals.
Quality Manager | CWI
A Colorado Native, Kyle grew up in the Arvada area. He has over 12 years of metallurgical quality assurance. He is well-versed in nondestructive testing (CWI, Level II RT, ISSRP, Level II MT, & Level II PT), compliance, scheduling, customer reporting, procedure improvement, and code translation. Kyle returned to the Test Metals team in 2023.
Metallurgical Technician
Josh Martinez joined the team at Test Metals in 2008 after being employed with CoorsTek in R&D. Josh has over 10 years of experience in specimen preparation for mechanical and metallurgical testing.
Office Manager
Katie spent 22 years of her professional career as an educator. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of New Mexico where she studied English Literature and American History, as well as licenses from the states of New Mexico and Colorado to teach K-12 Special Education and Gifted & Talented students. Endorsed in AP Language & Composition, Katie is an effective writer and manager.
Materials Engineer
Mack Bethell graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville with a B.S. in Materials Science and Engineering. After starting his career as a Materials Engineer with Aerojet Rocketdyne in Florida, he moved to Colorado and joined the Test Metals team in 2024 focusing on metallographic analysis.
Metallurgical Technician
Sommer comes to Test Metals with 18 years of business management in restaurant entrepreneurship and four years in glass management. She began her career at Coors Tek as a fire technician. A detail-oriented collaborator, Sommer is an effective team lead and project manager.

Coming from the mining industry, Andria's skills span from restoration to water treatment to carpentry. She is skilled in materials identification and specimen preparation for both mechanical and chemical testing.
